Pug Nationals

We left home with all the dogs in our motorhome on Friday, Oct. 23 and drove to North Carolina for the Central Carolina Pug Specialty and the Pug Dog Club of America Specialty.  We arrived on Sunday afternoon.  The drive through the mountains was beautiful!  We did not stay at the show site, but at a campground about 20 minutes away.  So we had water, electric, and cable TV (none of which were available at the show site).  Our friends, Ron and Rita Oates from Maryland camped right next to us, and we had a really nice time visiting when not showing.  The shows did keep us pretty busy, though, and did not really have any sightseeing time.  We showed mostly young kids, who did well for their first shows, made some cuts but no placings.  However, we did do well in the Broodbitch class with our Leelee and her daughters, our Dahtay and Ron and Rita's Gidget.  They got third at Central Carolina, and first at the PDCA National Specialty.  Also, a young male of our breeding, owned by Bonny Allegro of High Point, NC, did very well with two firsts and two thirds.  We were so happy to be able to meet Bonny in person after a year of friendship via email.  We also were able to meet Steve and Debbie Baldwin from CA, whom we have know for about 10 years but never met.  We fell in love with the male they had along and booked our Leelee to be bred to him.

So we had a great time and even won prizes in the bag raffle drawings - Brenda won 3, Rita won 1, and I won !.    Had fun chatting with many at ringside and making new friends also.  Next year the Nationals are in Ohio, so we should be able to make it there again then.
